Strategy Features Humanity’s Rebrand for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association

Humanity's rebrand for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) has been featured in Strategy, highlighting the thinking behind a new brand designed to strengthen the profession's voice and position physiotherapists as leaders in transforming health care.

The work represents more than a visual refresh. It is a strategic repositioning that helps the Association better reflect the expertise, leadership, and impact physiotherapists have across Canada's healthcare system.

A Brand Built Around the Science of Movement

Working closely with the CPA, Humanity developed a new brand identity inspired by one of the profession's most fundamental truths: movement.

Movement is central to how physiotherapists assess, treat, and help people regain function, independence, and quality of life. It became the foundation for a visual and verbal identity designed to express both the science of physiotherapy and the momentum the Association creates for its members and the profession.

The resulting identity is modern, flexible, and recognizable across every touchpoint, from national communications to specialty divisions and educational resources.

From Association to Movement

The project began with a simple challenge.

How do you modernize a national professional association while creating stronger connection with existing members, attracting future generations of physiotherapists, and increasing public understanding of the profession?

Rather than beginning with aesthetics, the work started with strategy.

Through research, stakeholder engagement, and behavioural science, Humanity developed a brand platform that positions the Canadian Physiotherapy Association as the organization that transforms ambition into impact by bringing the profession together around a shared purpose.

Designed to Grow With the Profession

The new identity includes:

  • Brand strategy

  • Brand positioning

  • Verbal identity

  • Visual identity

  • Logo system

  • Divisions and assemblies identity system

  • Brand guidelines

  • Launch campaign

Every element was designed to create a cohesive brand that is both scientifically grounded and emotionally engaging while remaining flexible enough to evolve alongside the profession.

Featured in Strategy

Strategy highlighted the rebrand as an example of how thoughtful branding can help organizations express complex ideas through clear strategy and design.

The feature explores the development of the visual identity, the "Planes of Motion" creative platform, and Humanity's approach to grounding every design decision in the science of physiotherapy.
